Headphones: Performance, Size or Style

What makes a product attractive to consumers? No one can be quite sure, but as the range and variety of appearances in electronic devices seems to have proven over the course of the last decade, consumer tastes are spread across a broad spectrum. Some individuals prefer portability to all other features of a product, others are more interested in quality, and some focus exclusively on style. But these need not be mutually exclusive. There are many products on the market today that satisfy all three requirements:

  1. size
  2. performance/quality
  3. stylish/attractive

When consumers are in the market for headphones, they’ll find a sizable selection of products that fit every taste, ranging from the minimalist to the extravagant.

When thinking about what pair of headphones to choose for a given product, buyers should consider whether or not they want their headphones to match the look or performance of the device itself. If the headphones will be used primarily for listening, then users should focus on sound quality. However, selecting a pair of cool-looking headphones does not necessarily mean a sacrifice in sound quality. There are many pairs of stylish headphones available on the market today that provide reliability and dependability.

As electronic devices become more customizable and able to accommodate the various tastes that consumers have, many manufacturers of listening devices are also providing pairs of headphones. Some consumers will find these headphones meet their requirements. Others might not be satisfied and will seek other products to replace them with. When looking for a pair of headphones to match one’s device, users should consider what type of message they want to send to others who will see them wearing them. Black headphones are commonplace and may offer users the ability to more thoroughly conceal when they are wearing their headphones. White headphones, while more obvious when worn, may match the aesthetics of many Apple devices and some laptop computers. Colored headphones are also an option if one’s device is colored or one wants more vibrancy or expression in their accessories.

All of these considerations go into determining which pair of headphones is right for a consumer. Retail experts in electronic accessories, either online or in-store, should be able to help individuals locate the product that satisfies their tastes and simultaneously provides them with a good listening experience. Given the sheer number of headphones available today, you do not need to compromise on performance, portability or style.

Three Secrets for Better Web Marketing

Web marketing is more straightforward than traditional marketing. We have great data made available for free through analytics packages like Google Analytics. We have the ability to accurately split-test content to improve our conversion rate. And, we have great clues as to what buyers are looking for when researching a purchase (keywords). It’s simple:

  • analyze visitor behavior
  • convert visitors
  • attract the right people

Prior to the Web, most marketers had to make decisions in a data poor environment. Sure, we conducted research studies, and often found out what our target customers SAID they would do. But, we rarely had data on what those customers actually did – emperical shopping behavior. That is what makes the Web such a dream for marketers. Well, I should say a dream for those marketers who elect to use the visitor data that happens on their site everyday. This is where you have to ask yourself, are you using this data? When is the last time you made a Web marketing decision based on the data contained in Google Analytics, or another analytics package (like KISSmetrics)? If you’re using Google Analytics, have you connected it to your Google Webmaster Tools account? If you’re honest answer is that you’re not paying attention to analytics – you should probably stop reading right now and go crack it open and learn something today!

Conversion is one of the strongest, yet most underutilized tools of the Web marketer. What’s typical is to accept the default conversion rate – for most sites it’s about 1 out of 400 visitors. When you accept low conversion, your only tool for growth is to increase the number of visitors (a much more expensive option). The best approach is to determine which pages on your site get traffic, and starting with the one receiving the most, set up an A|B Split Test using a tool like Google Website Optimizer (yep, it’s free). Then, you can methodically improve that page’s ability to convert visitors to buyers or leads over time. Not hard, just work!

Finally, if you understand visitor behavior and your confident in your website’s ability to convert, now it is time to drive traffic. You can do this in a myriad of ways, but do not neglect search engine optimization. The vast majority of people will research their purchases using a search engine (most of them will choose Google). If you don’t participate, you’re essentially allowing your competitors to capitalize on that traffic uncontested. If done right, you’ll create a steady flow of qualified visitors to your website. You do this by getting into their heads and thinking about how they’re likely to go about finding your products. This is a creative exercise – and it pays to work with people who have creative writing skills and love language. They will find the alternate pathways to your products and services, that your competitors aren’t likely to discover.

So, that’s it! They’re not all that secret, but based on most marketer’s behavior – it seems like they are. Now get out there and analyze, convert, and drive qualified traffic!

Cloud Storage on the Rise

The way individuals store their digital content has changed drastically with increases in storage capabilities. A new trend in storing digital content is known as cloud storage. Cloud storage allows individuals to centralize their data on an online server (whether you’re looking at DropBox, SugarSync, DropSend, Google’s new Cloud storage offering, etc.). The benefit of this type of storage is that capacities can be exceptionally large and data can be accessed from a variety of devices provided there is an active internet connection. Additionally developments in individual storage capabilities have also increased with the advent of new technologies. This article will briefly discuss improvements in data storage technology and their effects on the average user experience.

Traditionally users stored their data such as music, photos and documents on their personal computers. The information was placed on their hard driver where they could access it at any time. Hard drive technology has increased tremendously over the past ten years with current capacities topping 1.5 terabytes complete with screaming fast read and write speeds. Despite the advancements in hard drive technologies a new type of data storage technology is surpassing standard hard drives in terms of speed and overall performance. Solid state drives carry out identical tasks to their hard drive brethren; however, they do so at a much faster pace. Unfortunately as it stands now solid state drives are very expensive and they do not have the storage capacity that standard hard drives do. Despite the advancements in localized storage technology there has been an overwhelming increase in popularity and viability within cloud storage solutions.

Traditional data storage practices did not allow the user easy access to their data if they were not at their personal computer. While computer savvy individuals were able to set up networking protocols which would allow them to remotely access their data these practices were not common place and certainly not intuitive. As such mobile storage solutions such as flash drives were created so users could carry a small amount of data with them in an unobtrusive manner. Flash drives provided data mobility that proved useful for students and a variety of other workers; however, flash drives are currently being eclipsed by cloud storage. As it stands today individuals are able to obtain a fairly large amount of cloud storage for a small fee or in some cases no cost at all. Cloud technology is located in secure data centers. Cloud storage allows convenient data access with the only requirement being an active internet connection. This constant access to large amounts of data proves to be increasingly useful for devices with small amounts of hard drive or solid state storage such as tablets and phones. Now users can watch movies and listen to their full music library on their phone without having to reserve a portion of their available device storage space.

While cloud storage has taken off and is a very useful tool, there are some concerns regarding security and overall accessibility. These concerns are less pronounced for the average PC user; however, businesses often retain sensitive data which they may want backed up in an on-site location. In those cases, it is possible for businesses to place their data in a virtual private cloud; however, these can be more costly and require a greater technical expertise. Regardless of how individuals choose to store their data it is clear there will be increasingly more convenient options in the years to come.

Building a Profitable Business Using Dropshippers

Current economic trends indicate a slight overall recovery. Despite this fact a majority of small business owners are still feeling the strain of a volatile economy. Due to these pressures business owners are looking to alternative sales tactics and shipping methods to maximize profitability while maintaining a high degree of customer service. By utilizing wholesalers that dropship their products, small business owners are able to maximize profitability while offering quality products at competitive prices. Comprehensive drop ship programs allow resellers flexibility, low operating costs and best of all quality products at a competitive price for their customers.

By drop shipping their products wholesalers provide resellers with flexibility that is uninhibited by constraints inherent to localized inventory methods.  That additional degree of flexibility allows small businesses to operate in a variety of ways that don’t require a physical location to store goods and products.  This opens business owners to a variety of company models that are seldom possible when keeping an on hand inventory. Another added benefit is the ability for small businesses to operate remotely. This provides individuals with the ability to complete sales and ship products while attending conferences or meetings without the hassle of returning to the office and shipping the product. The added flexibility of partnering with a wholesaler who specializes in drop shipping can make doing business much more convenient, however, convenience is not the only benefit.

Maintaining profitability is the chief concern of any business owner, regardless of size. Unfortunately, that concern has been exacerbated due to a downturn in the economy. Despite this fact there are ways companies can minimize monthly expenditures in an effort to increase profitability. By partnering with a wholesaler that offers a comprehensive drop shipping program, businesses can drastically decrease operating costs in several key ways.  Firstly these programs allow business owners to reduce the size of their physical location or in some cases eliminate the need for it all-together. Secondly drop shipping provides resellers with the ability to generate purchase orders after a product has been spoken for. This removes the guesswork and future forecasting that is required when companies maintain on hand inventories. Often times this guesswork is a gamble that results in un-purchased products that drastically affect overall profitability.

Utilizing drop shipping through a wholesaler can be an exceptional tool for small businesses looking to reduce overhead and maximize profitability. Despite this fact the ability to dropship products directly to customers is of little use if the product being shipped doesn’t live up to their expectations. It is crucial to find a wholesaler that offers a quality branded product that it firmly stands behind. Additionally a quality wholesaler will work to forge a partnership with their resellers, often times by offering marketing assistance and a variety of other services. These additional services are just another incentive to utilize wholesalers who specialize in drop shipping over distributors with traditional inventory practices.
While there is a great deal of adversity for small business in today’s economy, there are ways for savvy business owners to reduce operating expenses and ensure their continued survival. By partnering with a wholesaler who utilizes drop shipping, businesses can increase flexibility, reduce monthly expenditures, all while offering quality products at competitive prices.

Growth Continues for Smartphone Applications

A specific type of software known as applications has grown tremendously since the advent of the smart phone. In a very basic sense applications provide software to mobile devices such as cell phones and tablets. There are three major platforms which these applications are developed for which are as follows: Apple’s IOS, Google’s Android and Blackberry. Apple has the largest share of application market with Android and Blackberry trailing. The capabilities of applications have grown tremendously over the past couple years which is a direct result of increases in hardware capabilities and inventive software developers. This article will review current and potential uses of applications and the increasing integration with their full-scale computer brethren.

As it stands today applications typically fall under a few distinct categories which include: Games, Social Media and Shopping. Although these categories encompass a majority of the applications there are others which include: utilities, events management software and business applications. The intricacies of these applications can range from a re-skinned website all the way to an interactive software suite which grants the user a variety of options and abilities. Gaming applications are an excellent representation of complex software as they often include complex textures and command structures. While there are many naysayers of mobile gaming applications due to their lack of tactile controls that has not stopped them from becoming one of the most popular aspects of smart phones. With the ever increasing capabilities of these mobile gaming platforms it is foolish to disregard mobile gaming heading into the future.

While it may seem as though applications have reached their peak potential that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Developers are constantly working to push the envelope in respect to smart phones and their application’s capabilities. Although with growth there is bound to be growing pains and that seems to be occurring on the grounds of personal security and privacy. An excellent example of this includes an application which was developed for single individuals to search out other single individuals in bars and other social gatherings. The application leveraged personal information made available on Facebook pages as well as other social media websites and compiled it in an easy to read fashion. The result was an application that could pinpoint single individuals in a bar while showing their picture as well as their likes and dislikes. The application was highly scrutinized and was eventually removed due to privacy concerns. What was most concerning about this application is that all the information was obtained through legal methods. There was no hacking or tampering with user profiles and none was necessary since all the information was divulged voluntarily. This brings up concerns with how individuals are storing and more importantly securing their personal data.

In conclusion applications have drastically altered the way software is viewed specifically on mobile platforms. Applications have brought entertainment, information and utilities to the mainstream through devices that nearly everyone owns. Additionally as these devices become more and more capabilities as do the applications that accompany them. It seems inevitable that our at home desktop will be replaced by a smart phone and its plethora of apps.
